“One generation commends Your works to another; they tell of Your mighty acts” Psalm 145:4

Our 2025–2027 theme reminds us that DAR service looks both backward and forward. We honor history while building a strong future.

The Fielding Lewis Chapter exemplify Historic Preservation, Patriotism, and Education, and we do this together, with friendship and purpose. I’m grateful for the remarkable women who built this foundation and for the dedication of our officers, committee chairs and members who plan events, preserve history, and engage our community.

I look forward to all we will accomplish. Let’s continue welcoming new members, reaching out to those we haven’t seen recently and serving our community.  Together, we will honor the past, serve in the present, and inspire the generations to come.

DAR History

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890. The objective of the founding members of DAR was to establish an organization to “perpetuate the memory and spirit of the women and men who achieved American independence”. Ellen Lovell Crosby, the great-great-granddaughter of Colonel Fielding Lewis and Betty Washington, was an Organizing Regent for the NSDAR. Mrs. Crosby founded the Fielding Lewis Chapter, NSDAR with seventeen charter members on April 12, 1904. Mrs. Crosby held the first meeting at her home, Forest Hill, in Marietta, Georgia.

Today, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is one of the largest female societies in the United States. The NSDAR is headquartered in Washington, D.C. NSDAR’s national headquarters encompasses an entire city block and is one of the world’s largest buildings of its kind owned and maintained exclusively by women. The Fielding Lewis Chapter, NSDAR is one of the largest chapters in the state of Georgia. Our chapter works tirelessly to uphold the mission of NSDAR, with over 28 committees with opportunities for all members to serve. Chapter meetings are held once a month, from September to May, on Wednesdays.

We would love for you to join us!
